Footpaths and Rights of Way

We have some wonderful countryside on our doorstep so why not go and explore. There are some suggested walks below, however more information can be found from:

Below are some suggested walks in the Parish:

Walk no. 1 – 10 miles – 4½  hrs

  • Village halls Centenary walk: – Kings’ Hall to King Edward Institute via Buckhurst, Summersales Hill, Penns-in-the Rocks, and return via Burrswood, Hale Court, Summerford & Hewkins Bridge.
  • Start/Finish at the Kings’ Hall, Withyham, OS grid ref. TQ495357.

Walk no. 2 – 8 miles – 3 ½ hrs

  • Station Rd, Forest Way, Top Hill Fm, Perry Hill Fm, Highfields, Lodgefield, Ashurst, Weald Way, Summerford Fm.
  • Start/Finish at Station Road, Withyham, OS grid ref. TQ498394

Walk no. 2a – 8 miles – 3 ½ hrs

  • Ashurst Station, Weald Way, Summerford Fm. Forest Way, Top Hill Fm, Perry Hill Fm, Highfields, Lodgefield
  • Start/Finish at Ashurst Station, OS grid ref. TQ507388
  • Ordnance Survey Explorer map no. 135 – ‘Ashdown Forest’ is recommended.
  • A half-way stop at the Dorset Arms also.

Walk no. 3 – 2.5 miles – 1¼ hours

  • Groombridge Football Field to Motts Mill & back via Sherlocks Farm
  • Start/Finish in Corseley Road by the football field  (Grid ref. TQ529364)

Walk no. 4 – 2.5 miles – 1½ hours

  • A short walk around Blackham
  • Start/Finish by Blackham Church (Grid ref. TQ498401)

Walk no. 6 – 5 miles – 2½ hours

  • Groombridge Football Field, Sherlock’s Farm, Cherry Gardens, Hunts Farm, Balls Green, Summerford Farm, Weald Way, Ham Bridge, and Forest Way back to start.
  • Start/Finish in Corseley Road by the football field  (Grid ref. TQ529364)

  • Groombridge Football Field to Motts Mill, Rocks Wood & back via Sherlocks Farm
